You need to have the right amount of tension on your fabric. For all your projects it\u2019s important to have your fabric very tight all the time. So think about checking the tension often. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>L\u2019un des secrets les plus importants pour obtenir le meilleur r\u00e9sultat possible en broderie est la fa\u00e7on dont vous allez placer le tissu dans le tambour. Il faut que votre tissu soit le plus tendu possible et ce pendant toute la r\u00e9alisation de votre projet. Pour tous vos projets, except\u00e9s ceux r\u00e9alis\u00e9s sur des tissus \u00e9lastiques, le tissu doit \u00eatre extr\u00eamement tendu. Pensez \u00e0 v\u00e9rifier et corriger la tension du tissu assez r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement. Place the outer hoop over it and use both hands to press it down onto the inner hoop (b). The tension of the fabric should already feel fairly tight. You can now tighten the screw (c) and finish to gently tight the fabric using both hands: one to hold the two hoops together, one to pull the fabric (d). You will know that your fabric is tight enough when it makes a drum sound (e). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Commencez par desserrer la vis de votre tambour, puis s\u00e9parez les deux cercles. Posez le cercle int\u00e9rieur sur une surface plane, puis posez votre tissu par dessus (a). Posez ensuite le cercle ext\u00e9rieur par dessus (b), vous pouvez utiliser vos deux mains pour le pousser afin que le cercle int\u00e9rieur rentre dans le cercle ext\u00e9rieur (c). Votre tissu devrait d\u00e9j\u00e0 avoir l\u2019air d\u2019\u00eatre un peu tendu. Vous pouvez maintenant serrer la visse, n\u2019h\u00e9sitez pas \u00e0 utiliser une pince si c\u2019est trop difficile de le faire avec vos doigts (d). Vous saurez que votre tissu est assez tendu lorsqu\u2019il fera un son de tambour quand vous tapotez dessus avec vos doigts (e).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#2 : trace your design &#8211; <em>dessiner votre projet<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You can draw a design on a paper or print any design from internet. Then you can transfer it on you fabric. You can do the same as what I did in the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Maintenant que votre tambour est pr\u00eat et que votre tissu est en place, vous allez pouvoir passer au tra\u00e7age. La fa\u00e7on la plus simple est de faire comme montr\u00e9 sur la photo ci-dessous. Vous pouvez dessiner directement sur le tissu (au dos de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence) avec un crayon de papier ou un stylo effa\u00e7able type Frixion. On the pictures, I am using a Frixion pen, that you can erase with an iron or a hair dryer, for this kind of projects, it\u2019s the best. I recommend to trace your design on the back side of your fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#3 : let&rsquo;s make your embroidery &#8211; <em>c&rsquo;est parti pour la broderie<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The kit you have is to make a free project. You can choose the design you want, I am just going to show you some examples and explain few stitches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Le kit que vous avez est fait pour r\u00e9aliser un projet libre. Vous \u00eates donc libre de choisir le sujet, l&rsquo;image, les couleurs de votre choix. The satin stitch is very useful if you want to quickly fill an area but also to make big letters or any kind of shapes. You can cut a arm long section of thread and make a knot at one of the end of it. Then you can thread your needle (explanation following). You can now start to make your embroidery. Start from the beginning by making a tiny stitch, then you can make a parallel a little bit bigger stitch, and again and again, to follow your traced design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Si vous d\u00e9sirez r\u00e9aliser le m\u00eame projet que sur la photo ci-dessus, il vous faut utiliser le point appel\u00e9 le pass\u00e9 plat. C&rsquo;est un point vraiment tr\u00e8s utile, facile et rapide \u00e0 broder. Vous pouvez l&rsquo;utiliser pour faire du remplissage, de grandes \u00e9critures, des formes pleines plus ou moins grosses, etc. Coupez une portion de fil de la longueur du bras et faites un noeud \u00e0 l&rsquo;une des extr\u00e9mit\u00e9. Enfilez votre aiguille (les explications viennent juste apr\u00e8s). Vous pouvez commencer \u00e0 broder. D\u00e9buter par un point \u00e0 l&rsquo;extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 de votre choix de votre forme. For writings, I recommend to use a half floss (so 3 threads). But feel free to try embroidering with less or more threads!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Vous pouvez utiliser ce point pour les \u00e9critures fines mais aussi pour faire des lignes de contours par exemple. Pour les \u00e9critures, je vous recommande d&rsquo;utiliser un demi fil (\u00e0 savoir 3 brins au lieu de 6 pour un fil complet). Mais si vous pr\u00e9f\u00e9rez utiliser un fil complet, \u00e7a ne sera pas non plus un probl\u00e8me. Mois vous utiliserez de brins, plus votre ligne sera fine.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This stitch is great to make neat lines and it is so easy! Let\u2019s start with the collar of the girl on the left on this project from one of my other kits. Go up on your line, but not on the very beginning of it (a). Go down before, or backward, at the beginning of your line (b). Then go up after your first stitch. You can finish your second stitch and go down on this very same hole (c). Now, you can just repeat it to finish the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ce point est vraiment tr\u00e8s pratique pour broder de belles lignes r\u00e9guli\u00e8res. Je vais vous montrer les \u00e9tapes n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation de ce point avec ces photos tir\u00e9es du livret de l&rsquo;un de mes autres kits. Depuis l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re, piquez \u00e0 quelques millim\u00e8tres du d\u00e9but de votre ligne (a). Puis piquez depuis l&rsquo;endroit, avant le trou (ou on pourrait dire \u00e0 l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re de celui-ci, d&rsquo;o\u00f9 le nom du point) par lequel vous aviez pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment piqu\u00e9 (b). Votre premier point arri\u00e8re est fait ! Ensuite piquez \u00e0 la droite de votre tout premier \u00ab\u00a0trou\u00a0\u00bb. Enfin, vous pouvez terminer ce deuxi\u00e8me point en repiquant depuis l&rsquo;avant dans le tout premier trou par lequel vous aviez commencez votre ligne (c). The Satin stitch is faster but the Brick stitch looks fancier. Making a brick stitch is like building a brick wall, it\u2019s all about rows.<br> If you want to fill a big surface, your stitch can be 1, 2 inches long and even more. There are two ways to make Brick stitch: vertically or horizontally. You can start by making a first back stitch line. Thread your needle and make a knot at the end of the long tail, as usual. Pass your threaded needle through the fabric from back to front. The key for a successful French knot is keeping your embroidery floss tight while working. To create your French knot, you should use your two hands. One for the needle and the second one to hold the floss tight while holding the embroidery hoop, as you can see on pictures (a).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Commen\u00e7ons par faire un premier point de noeud. It may sounds silly but it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>L\u2019un des aspects les plus difficiles en broderie est de mettre le fil dans l\u2019aiguille. \u00c7a peut para\u00eetre dingue mais croyez-moi, ce n\u2019est pas si facile.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First you need to learn about embroidery floss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>D\u2019abord il vous faut en apprendre un peu plus sur les fils \u00e0 broder. Un fil comme celui que vous avez dans ce kit est compos\u00e9 de 6 brins. Le fil peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 entier ou \u00eatre divis\u00e9. Vous pouvez broder avec autant de brins que vous le d\u00e9sirez. Embroidery needles look the same as sewing needles, except the eye of the needle which is bigger and longer.<br>For my kits I am using DMC embroidery needles. They go from size 1 (big) to size 10 (small). For my kits I picked size 5 (medium). With this needle, you can choose to work with 1, 3 or 6 threads. Threading a size 5 needle with 6 threads is not easy, but if you have the right technic you can do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Une fois que vous avez choisi le nombre de brins avec lesquels vous d\u00e9sirez broder, choisissez donc votre aiguille. Les aiguilles \u00e0 broder ressemblent \u00e0 des aiguilles de couture, le chat de l\u2019aiguille est juste beaucoup plus allong\u00e9. Pour mes kits j\u2019utilise des aiguilles de la marque DMC. Les aiguilles \u00e0 broder vont pour les plus basiques du 1 (les plus grosses) \u00e0 10 (les plus fines). Pour mes kits, j\u2019utilise la taille 5 (les aiguilles moyennes). Avec cette taille d\u2019aiguille, vous pouvez travailler avec n\u2019importe quel fil de 1 \u00e0 6 brins. Enfiler un fil de 6 brins sur une aiguille n\u00b05 n\u2019est pas facile mais possible si vous avez la bonne technique.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are hand sewing, you push the thread through the eye of the needle. With an embroidery needle, it\u2019s not the same. You are going to push the eye of the needle on the floss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Quand vous utiliser une aiguille pour coudre \u00e0 la main, vous poussez le fil \u00e0 travers le chat de l\u2019aiguille. Avec une aiguille \u00e0 broder, c\u2019est l\u2019inverse. Vous allez pousser le chat de l\u2019aiguille sur le fil.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, cut an arm long section of floss. With very sharp scissors, cut one of the two tails to cut all fluffy tiny threads. Then flatten the floss between the top of your thumb and your index finger. You can now push your needle on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Commencez par couper une section de fil de la longueur de votre bras. Avec des ciseaux bien aff\u00fbt\u00e9s, coupez l\u2019extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 du fil le plus net possible. Ensuite placez cette extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 du fil entre votre pouce et votre index et avec la pulpe de vos doigts, aplatissez le fil au maximum. Then, you can glue your fabric to the inner hoop (a), with your glue gun, or any other kind of glue. Then fold the fabric on the glue (b). It should look like the picture c.<br> When it\u2019s dry, you can cut all excess fabric (d) from around your hoop with scissors, leaving about a 1\/4 inch of cloth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Pour terminer le dos de votre projet, commencez d&rsquo;abord par retendre votre tissu. Ensuite, mettez de la colle sur le bord du cercle int\u00e9rieur (a). Vous pouvez maintenant replier le tissu par-dessus la colle (b). Et \u00e7a devrait ressembler \u00e0 la photo c. But you can also leave it as it is (f). You just finished your embroidery project! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Si vous le souhaitez, vous pouvez couvrir le dos de votre broderie avec du papier type scrapbook ou de la feutrine. Pour se faire, mettez de la colle sur tout le tour du cercle int\u00e9rieur (e) et collez votre papier pr\u00e9alablement coup\u00e9 par dessus. Mais vous pouvez aussi choisir de ne pas couvrir le dos, \u00e0 vous de choisir l&rsquo;option que vous pr\u00e9f\u00e9rez (f).
